I can live without the guest artists, but at least they don't detract from Al's artistry. It is much better than the CD which preceded it, I Can't Stop, but it is not as good as his best album, 1995's Your Heart's In Good Hands. It's a bit amusing to read that this is a "comeback" for Al Green, as if his past few secular albums have not existed. This is a solid album, reflective of some of Green's best early career work.
He's the Master of Soul, and if you love the Reverand's previous works, you'll not regret adding this one to your collection.I simply can't take this disc out of my player. Bravo Al. It's strange to hear people talk about Al's "come Back" with this compilation. I'm purchasing it for two friends who I know will be thrilled with it. Keep Standing in the Rain. In my opinion, he never left the stage. This group of recordings is vintage Al: smooth, seamless, timeless.
He walked away with two Grammy awards on two of his fantastic groove songs. Just downright banging.
Once you start listening to it, it's very hard to lay the CD down. I love this album.
The Rev. If you ask me, his whole CD is a fantastic groove.
It's just that good. Al Green has indeed made a comeback, and he did it in a big way.
They were "Stay With Me By The Sea" and "You Got The Love I Need".
Peace. If you liked him in the day, you will LOVE this. I have only one thing to say about this album: W O N D E R F U L. Al Green picks up exactly where he left it way back when.
Really like this cd, can jam to almost every track, especially the ones w/ Anthony Hamilton and the one with John Legend.
